Day 2 will feature a 110 kilometre loop through the Tallebudgera Valley and experience the main challenge and highlight of the 2021 ride, the tough yet beautiful Springbrook climb.

Day 3 returns the riders from the Gold Coast back to Brisbane to conclude a fantastic three days of cycling and camaraderie. The cyclists will enjoy the wonderful atmosphere of a hometown finish surrounded by the cheers of supporters and loved ones.

DAY 1

Gold Coast Prologue

Distance: 80km
Metres climbed: 960m

On Day 1, the group will depart Brisbane via coach after breakfast to start at the Gold Coast Cycle Centre at Nerang. The Chain Reaction Challenge truck will transport the riders bikes to the start line, ready to warm up the legs together over several laps of the closed circuit.

The peloton will then roll onto the wide boulevards at the back of the Gold Coast, escorted by the Chain Reaction support cars. The second half of the 80 kilometre stage will be relatively flat along the beachfront to arrive at the hotel at Surfers Paradise.

DAY 2

Springbrook Return

Distance: 110km
Metres climbed: 2116m

Day 2 features a 110 kilometre loop of the stunning Springbrook National park. The riders will experience a challenging climb through the Tallebudgera Valley and cycle in the shadows of lush rainforests, ancient trees and the natural beauty of Springbrook.

A quick drink stop at the Advancetown Lake is followed by a short climb that opens up panoramic views of the Gold Coast. The beautiful Springbrook climb is the main challenge and highlight of the 2021 ride.

The ascent is 24 kilometres long with 2100m of climbing at an average grade of 3.9% through the gorgeous hinterland forests. The riders will be rewarded with a 24 kilometre descent as the peloton returns via the route climbed.

DAY 3

Gold Coast to Brisbane

Distance: 121km
Metres climbed: 773m

Day 3 returns the riders from the Gold Coast back to Brisbane. The route is the reverse of the course included on the 2021 Brisbane 7 Day Challenge. This course provides a safe and scenic tour through the southern edge of the coast. The peloton will cycle through pockets of sugar cane farmland, mangrove-fringed creeks, and Mount Cotton's bushland to return to Brisbane via the South Eastern Suburbs.

The cyclists will enjoy the wonderful atmosphere of a hometown finish surrounded by the cheers of supporters and loved ones.
