Riding With Purpose: My Chain Reaction Story
This March, I’m taking on the 2026 Melbourne Chain Reaction Challenge — a 7-day, 1,000-kilometre cycling journey from Sydney to Melbourne — to raise funds for two incredible charities that support kids when they need it most: Monash Children’s Hospital and the Starlight Foundation.
Why this ride matters to me …
Over the past two years I’ve found myself unexpectedly on the frontlines of family health, and I’ve seen up close how vital care and compassion are when the chips are down. My daughter faced significant mental health challenges that brought her — and all of us — to Monash Children’s Hospital. Amid the fear and uncertainty, one of my persistent memories is of seeing the Starlight crew walk through the hospital — costumes, smiles, and happiness to share. We weren’t their target audience, but that simple moment of uplift reminded me that light can peek through even the toughest times. I am honoured to ride as a member of the Starlight team in this year’s challenge.
Chain Reaction Challenge isn’t just a physical ride — it’s a chance to give back. This year, I’m riding in gratitude for the care and support our family received, for the kids whose journeys are far tougher than mine, and for every family that needs hope in hard times.
How your support helps
? Monash Children’s Hospital uses every dollar to support vital paediatric care — from critical respiratory equipment to specialist treatments that help kids breathe, recover and get back to their lives.
? The Starlight Foundation brings joy, distraction, play and connection to seriously ill kids through programs like Starlight Express Rooms and Captain Starlight visits — giving kids and families moments of relief, laughter and normalcy in the midst of treatment.
Will you help me make an impact?
Please donate, share my fundraising page, or simply cheer from the sidelines. Every dollar brings us one step closer to brighter hospital experiences for children who deserve nothing less.
