Help me support kids in need
I am writing to ask for a donation to a cause, and towards a riding challenge that has a particularly personal story for me.
I'm an incredibly lucky person. A very long story - short - is that my twin girls, after a complicated pregnancy and born prematurely, are now happy, healthy, amazing, confident 8 year olds. At one stage they were given a less than 2% chance of survival. In fact, I was called by doctors to explain that one would not survive the night... A phone call I'll never forget. I don't want parents or families to ever experience that loneliness or helplessness... so a small difference is worthwhile.
My wife, Penny and I sat in a NICU ward for 7 weeks while the hospital staff, modern medicine and equipment saved both Madeline and Isabel's lives.
Chain Reaction is the Ultimate Corporate Bike Challenge that raises money for sick children. The program challenges people who have a passion for cycling and an awareness of their corporate social responsibilities, to ride a 1,000 plus kilometre course in 7 days in March.
My passion for cycling is a new one. It will be a huge challenge for me. I have never faced a physical undertaking of this nature or scale.
My goal is to complete the course, and to raise money for the Monash Children's Hospital NICU ward. The money raised will fund more resuscitaire machines. The hospital staff & these machines saved my daughter's lives. I owe everything to them. Last year I managed to raise $19,000 through the amazing generousity of everyone. I hope to raise another $6,000... enough for one of these beds.
If 115 people donate $250 to this cause - one machine will be purchased. My goal is to raise at least $20, 000 towards the purchase of one of these machines and any amount you can contribute I would be incredibly grateful for.
