Help me support kids in need
Hello friends and colleagues, yes folks, I’m going around
one more time for a cause very personal and close to my heart – this time
captaining the Starlight team.
A lot of you would already know, that in November 2022, our world was turned
upside down when our 3-year-old daughter, Lexi, was diagnosed with stage 4
cancer in her kidney. For the following 18 months, we spent countless days and
nights in and out of the hospital, facing challenges you wouldn’t put your
worst enemy through. This is her in the video.
Throughout the journey, the Starlight Express Room at the The Royal Children's Hospital was often the only
source of joy for Lexi and our family. This incredible space has provided
much-needed relief and happiness to so many kids and families during some of
their darkest times. The job of the Starlight Captains is to take away all the
worries and fears of sick children, and put them back in control….with a simple
objective – HAVING FUN!
Those who know me well know that I’m a keen cyclist, so so this is something
small I can do to help pay it forward for kids who encounter these horrors both
presently and in the future. In March next year, I’m taking on the Chain Reaction Challenge Foundation for the third time.
This year, I will be captaining the Starlight Children's Foundation Australia team, it’s
an honour and a privilege. In just 7 days, we will be covering over 1,000 kms riding
from Sydney to Melbourne. My personal fundraising goal is $7000, and I
know I have asked you for a lot over the last couple of years but believe me,
you don’t know you need a Starlight Captain until you do! No amount is too
small.
