Help me support kids in need
Hi all,I care deeply about the work the two major charity partners of the 2023 ride do for children:
Monash Children's Hospital, and in this case Casey Special Care Nursery, is looking to purchase cardio-respiratory monitoring equipment to care for sicker newborn infants.
The Starlight Foundation makes the hospital stays of older children a bit less bad.
All the riders have an ambitious individual and collective fundraising target. I would be grateful if you could support our charity partners with as much or as little as you would like to donate- it all counts.
My Updates

10 days to go
Thank you so much to those who have donated, via my page or any of the others'. As I understand it donors who leave their email addresses receive updates from ride-central, so you can track our progress. I am tracking a couple of riders who are there now as part of the Sydney peloton- yesterday they rode uphill for the first 80km!!My own training has included 1515km in the last 3 weeks; I have had a day and half of lighter riding and the tired heavy legs feel fantastic from the short respite! I plan for another week or so of hard training until next Thursday, flight on Friday (a whole day off the bike!), easy ride in Christchurch on Saturday, and then it all starts on Sunday 12/3!

3 weeks to go
OK, this time in 3 weeks and we'll be on the road doing the ride. I feel I am now ready for the challenge- until a couple of weeks ago I wasn't sure I would get to the point of feeling fit enough. However I have had my two biggest training weeks on the bike ever (512 and 515km) and my fastest recorded time on a ride up the Dandenongs (16:44 for the 1:20, for those who know what that means). I'm training solo plus with other Chain Reaction riders, who I'm really enjoying getting to know.Thank you to those who have jumped on board in support. I'm very grateful.
