Why I’m Riding 1,000km in 7 Days - And How You Can Help Change a Child’s Life
Next April, I’ll be taking on one of the biggest physical and mental challenges of my life: cycling 1,000 kilometer and climbing more than 13,000 metre over 7 days across Adelaide as part of the Chain Reaction Challenge.
If you know me, you know cycling isn’t my comfort zone. Boxing has always been my passion, the discipline, the fight, the challenge. But when the opportunity came to ride for a purpose bigger than myself, I knew I had to say yes.
Why This Challenge Matters
This ride isn’t about fitness or distance. It’s about giving children, many living in crisis, poverty, or unsafe environments, a real chance to build brighter futures.
Your support directly funds Chain Reaction’s two incredible charity partners:
Hope Street (Baptist Care)
Hope Street walks alongside families facing life’s toughest challenges. Their programs give vulnerable children:
- Safe and supportive spaces
- Meals, basic necessities & counselling
- Early-intervention programs that build confidence and resilience
A powerful example: A 12-year-old boy named Robert, who struggled to attend school and saw no strength in himself, began the “Brave Me” program. Within weeks, he was walking to school on his own, communicating openly, and learning the emotional tools to thrive.
This is the impact your donation creates.
So They Can
So They Can supports more than 32,000 children and families annually in Kenya and Tanzania through education and community development.
Chain Reaction’s support has already helped increase girls’ school enrolment in Baringo, Kenya, where up to 60% FGC by 76%, empowering them to stay in school and break cycles of harm and poverty.
This challenge directly powers that transformation.
Where Your Money Goes
Every dollar donated is tax-deductible and supports programs that:
- Provide safe housing for at-risk kids
- Deliver education that breaks the poverty cycle
- Empower families and communities
- Build long-term independence and opportunity
Chain Reaction has raised over $46 million since 2007 and aims to raise $1 million this year. My personal goal is $10,000. Every kilometre I ride will be fuelled by your support, and every dollar will help a child rewrite their future. Thank you for being part of this journey with me.
Let’s turn every kilometre into hope.
Albie
