Inside the Melbourne Peloton Day 7

20 May 2022
The final days of what has been a truly amazing week started in style with a police escort out of Port Douglas and beyond. The tired bodies of the peloton prepared for one last time for the ride from Port Douglas back to our original starting point of Cairns.

For the final time, our newly crowned jersey winners led the way up Port Douglas Road and onto the busy Cook Highway. With the Reef to our left and the Kuranda National Park on our right, we set for our first break spot of Palm Cove. Police escort on toe we wound along the coast and soaked in the beauty of far north Queensland.

After a stop at the picturesque Palm Cove, we headed for our lunch spot of Lake Morris. But to get there we had a tough final climb with amazing views over Cairns.

With lunch done and the group mounting their bikes for the final time, it was time for our final descent into Cairns and our finishing point. With this, we descended the Lake Morris Road as a group reflecting on the week that had been.

This is the most well-tuned, organized, professional charity ride we have ever seen. John, Tim, and the sensational team do an outstanding job. The support crew helps everyone push through the kilometres and it's truly enjoyable (with plenty of riding pain). Our donation tally reached over $1.3million. It's such an important cause and this is something we will remember forever.
