Chain Reaction Bike Ride – Day 7: Gold Coast to Brisbane
After six gruelling days in the saddle, we thought Day 7 might be a gentle cruise back to Brisbane. Enter Tim. Not one to let us off easy, he threw in one last climb – a final test of willpower and weary legs.
Despite the fatigue, spirits were high. I felt proud to be riding for The Prince Charles Hospital and The Common Good and was constantly inspired by the incredible fundraising efforts from every rider to support not only my hospital but also AEIOU.

The team pushed through the tiredness with a shared sense of achievement, each pedal stroke a reminder of the difference we’re making. We took a well-earned break to celebrate the mighty Brighton Homes and Simonds teams – huge contributors to this journey.

Then, a tour of the velodrome at Chandler was another highlight!

And then came the grand finale – rolling into Brisbane over the iconic Story Bridge escorted by the police, soaking in the skyline, and arriving at the legendary Breakfast Creek Hotel to the cheers of friends, family and supporters. What a moment.

Huge thanks to everyone who made this ride possible – organisers, support crew, sponsors, donors and fellow riders. What a ride. What a cause. What a team!
