Day 1 – Chain Reaction Challenge: Pedals Down, Spirits High
Day 1 is in the books—and what a way to kick off the Chain Reaction Challenge.
We rolled out this morning into steady rain, the kind that soaks you through before the first coffee stop. Spirits stayed high though, because this is Chain Reaction—you don’t show up expecting sunshine and tailwinds. You show up because the cause is worth it.
The ride threw a bit of everything at us—rolling hills, a few brutal little pinches, coastal wind, wet roads, and that first-day nervous energy. But the team found a rhythm, settled in, and rode with purpose.
Then, just when we needed it, the clouds began to break. As we crested the hill and looked out over Coffs Harbour, the sun lit up the coastline below us. A small moment, but a memorable one. It felt like a turning point—not just in the weather, but in the ride itself. A reminder of why we’re here.
It’s not just about chasing wheels or ticking off the kilometres. It’s about the person next to you on the road. The quiet nod of support. The grit to keep going. The understanding that this isn’t just a bike ride—it’s a ride for kids who are fighting far harder battles.
Our pain is temporary. Theirs is daily. If a wet morning in the saddle helps give them a better shot at life, that’s a trade we’ll take every time.
Thanks to everyone who’s already supported us. Day 1 is done—but this is just the beginning. We’re riding with purpose, and we’re carrying your support with us every pedal stroke of the way.
Here’s to Day 2.
