Conquering Coastlines and Cane Fields: Day Two of the Chain Reaction Challenge Distance: 153km | Elevation: 1,161m | Time: 5h 21m

We rolled out of Coffs Harbour into crisp morning air - and straight into a savage opening climb that burned the legs and snapped us into focus. No warm-up, no easing in. Just straight to work.

What followed was a journey of contrasts. Thrilling descents gave way to rolling hills, cool forests, and headwinds that drained energy and tested discipline. Spirits wavered, chatter faded, and formations tightened as we pressed through to Grafton.

Lunch at the Crown Hotel was a turning point - hearty meals, cold drinks, and a much-needed lift. From there, we rode alongside the serene Clarence River, sugar cane fields stretching out like a postcard, the pace settling into a steady rhythm.

A quaint ferry crossing gave us a brief pause, but the final leg into Yamba had other plans. A relentless headwind met us head-on, demanding focus, grit, and teamwork.

After 153km and over 5 hours in the saddle, we rolled into Yamba sore but smiling. Every kilometre was for the kids we’re riding to support - reminding us why we’re here, and why we keep pushing.

Day two: done. Day three: bring it on.
