From 2 -8 May 2020, I will be cycling 1,000km from Newcastle to Brisbane to raise much needed funds that will change and improve the lives of sick and vulnerable children and their families.
Funds raised from this event will support major charity partners the AEIOU Foundation, Ronald McDonald House South East Qld and TRACTION.
AEIOU Foundation provides early intervention programs and treatment centres to support children with an autism diagnosis. The programs are designed to develop essential life skills, independence, confidence and inclusion. Funds raised will facilitate the construction of a new centre based in Springfield so the Ipswich community will have the opportunity to access life changing therapy and support.
Ronald McDonald House Charities SEQ provides accommodation and support services for seriously ill or injured children and their families. By providing a 'home away from home' the organisation helps to preserve the family unit in the midst of physical, emotional and financial stress. It also gives parents the chance to draw hope and comfort from families in similar situations, while being supported by dedicated, friendly staff and volunteers. Funds will support refurbishment of Ronald McDonald House Herston’s accommodation rooms and kitchen and living areas.
TRACTION engages local communities and serves those most in need by providing a safe, inclusive, action-based environment where vulnerable youth build self-esteem, find a sense of belonging, discover their potential and create their own future. TRACTION partners with referral agencies, such as schools, community organisations, child safety and youth justice agencies, to empower young people in need.
Funds will establish new community hubs, as well as increase the capacity of existing workshops to support more vulnerable youth.
Please support my efforts on the bike with a donation and be part of changing the lives of kids in need!
