Port Macquarie to Noosa - 36 riders & 1000kms

Chain Reaction 2010 will see 36 riders ride the 1000kms from Port Macquarie to Noosa.

Day 1 - Arrive Port Macquarie (Saturday March 6)
All the riders and suppport staff will arrive in Port Macquarie and settle into the Rydges Hotel.
It will be a busy day for the bike mechanics from Total Rush, as they prepare all the bikes for the week ahead.
The riders will enjoy their last easy day - resting and relaxing - before the start of Chain Reaction 2010....

Day 2 - Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour (Sunday March 7)
Todays ride starts by taking the only road out of town to the North.
Initially the route will follow the Pacific Highway, heading for the first major town of Kempsey - and the riders first main break.
With no noticeable climbs for the day, the route takes up the old highway at Macksville, and meanders through quiet costal towns - the last being Sawtel - before arriving in Coffs Harbour.
Tonights acommodation is the Novotel Pacific Resort on the North side of town - not before 170km's have been ridden!

Day 3 - Coffs Harbour to Yamba (Monday March 8)
Todays ride has a few undulations to get the riders into the swing of things.  The trip out to Grafton takes care of most of the hills, with the steepest being the earliest of the day.
Once through Grafton, the terrain flattens out into flat picturesque roads through the canefields of Northern NSW.
The Bluff Point Ferry at Lawrence will get the riders on the correct side of the river to roll through Maclean and into the quiet costal town of Yamba.
The Yamba Sun is the hotel for the night.

Day 4 - Yamba to Byron Bay (Tuesday March 9)
Todays ride retraces the previous afternoon's roll through Maclean and the short Bluff Point Ferry, before heading further inland to the Cumberland way.
Headwinds may be the greatest obstacle for the riders, as they approach the main town of Casino.
Casino to Lismore should provide some respite, before the undulations are tackled, through the hinterlands behind Byron Bay.
The small town of Bangalow will let the riders know they only have 10km's to pedal before arriving in Byron Bay.

Day 5 - Byron Bay to Broadbeach (Wednesday March 10)
The riders will tackle the hinterland hills behind Byron Bay as they continue their journey north.  Although hilly - the trees will at least provide shade as the riders work up a sweat.
Once through the small town of Mullumbimbi, the road meanders its way through a few climbs - the steepest taking the riders into Queenslean for the first time.
A long steep descent drops the riders down into the back of Currumbin and the Gold Coast Highway.
Sun and sand will greet the riders as they pull into their final destination for the day - Broadbeach.

Day 6 - Broadbeach to Brisbane (Thursday March 11)
The route today avoids the highway, but as a consequence takes the riders into the hilly hinterland for the first part of the day.  Fortunately the scenery will be enough for the riders to forget the temporary discomfort of the climbs....
Once through Beenleigh, the route picks up the old highway, and the road flattens out considerably.
The roll into Brisbane will involve traffic and close bunch riding to take the riders to their accommodation for the evening.

Day 7 - Brisbane to Noosa (Friday March 12)
Although today is the last day, the ride to Noosa will be a test for all the riders.
Passing through the hinterland of North Brisbane and meandering through the Glasshouse Mountains provides many undulations for the riders to tackle.
The Sunshine Coast Hinterland continues the undulations, before the riders pop out onto the famous David Low Way - and the breathtaking views it provides of the coastline into Noosa.
